Tights Are Not Pants

Here’s some random 2011 pics that I never posted to tumblr. :)

A lot of shit happened last year! Good and bad, though definitely more good. Here’s some of my 2011, in no particular order:

~ I saw a fuckton of bands live: Coheed and Cambria, NKOTBSB, Katy Perry, Marina and the Diamonds, Weezer, The Tragically Hip, City and Colour, The Sheepdogs, Kesha, LMFAO, Lights, Arkells, and Mumford and Sons.

~ I went to my first ever FanExpo, where I had an awesome time with Leah, Tabitha and Kyle, and got to meet (and look into the eyes of) TOM FELTON.

~ Finally got to try Hamilton’s latest awesome thing: Gorilla Cheese, and continued trying it throughout the year. The most memorable time was one late night when I was crazy drunk, and the girl taking orders (Sue) recognized me from Twitter. She blew my mind and gave me a free tshirt!

~ I got another tattoo in February, Navi on the front of my left shoulder.

~ The final Harry Potter movie came out, and it was incredible. It inspired me to start reading the books aaagaaaaaiiiinnn and actually left me feeling pretty good about the end of the movie series.

~ My fucking bike got stolen in broad daylight in front of my work. I will never stop being angry about this, but I will get a new bike and park it in the office, no matter how my manager feels about it.

~ My Grandad had to go for heart surgery in September, and while he’s in great condition for a 79 year old, he’s also 79. It was really scary, but he made it through no problem!

~ I dyed my natural blonde hair bright Ariel red. NO REGRETS.

~ alexisonfire broke up. This was a pretty horrible thing for me, and as I’ve told most of you, I took it really hard. One of the greatest things in my life was seeing them live, again and again, always knowing that there’d be another AOF show in the future. Concert people: you know what I mean. Their music is great no matter how you take it in, but nothing beats a band like alexisonfire when they’re standing right in front of you and playing their fucking hearts out.

~ In early 2011 I watched the first season of The Walking Dead. I was furious that I’d have to wait til October for season two, but dealt with it by reading the graphic novels. They’re amazing. A few months later I started watching Game of Thrones with Leah, because of my love, Sean Bean. Ultimately I had to read the book series, A Song of Ice and Fire, and I am so sincerely glad that I did. George R.R. Martin is a genius. A cruel, cruel genius.

~ Did a lot of cool things with Vanessa, including our drunken birthdays; the annual trip to Wonderland; experiencing Gorilla Cheese and City and Colour for the first time together; London Adventures (a ridiculously cold night of tobogganing and sleeping over at Alisha’s after watching some sparkly vampire movie..); seeing Lights♥, Mumford and Marina; Halloween, AND SO ON. When I think back on it, 2011 was definitely a great year with all of my friends. :)

~ The most significant series that I was drawn to last year was Doctor Who. Everyone on tumblr was obsessed with it, people in real life were into it, Nick couldn’t stop talking about it and everywhere I turned there were confusing Doctor gifs that threw me off with their different Doctors. I had to give it a go, but didn’t know where to start. One day in the summer, Alex told me that he’d downloaded Series 1, from 2005. I hadn’t even told him that I was interested, it was just an awesome coincidence that made my life. Eccleston was awesome and Matt Smith makes me love him more with every episode, but David Tennant’s Tenth Doctor is, and always will be, my Doctor. There are awesome episodes and less awesome episodes, and a couple that are even pretty crap, but the rebooted modern series as a whole is amazing. The character of the Doctor is so lovable and fantastic, you just can’t resist him. I’m beyond glad that the Doctor found his way into my life last year!

And so here’s to a timey-wimey, spacey-wacey, hopefully brilliant 2012!

Allons-y!
